A worthless wait

An hour passed by,

two hours

three hours

four hours passed by

five hours

six hours

seven hours passed by

and I'm still on the pavement

my face buried in my palms

waiting

eight hours passed by

nine hours

ten hours,

I'm still here waiting

tears pouring down my face

fury flowing through my veins

the street empty with a buzzing noise

a man and a woman standing not far away

I still can't see you but I'll stay

eleven hours passed by

twelve hours

thirteen hours

fourteen hours passed by,

I'm standing now,

running after shadows,

running aimlessly

fifteen hours passed by

I sat down again and whimpered

hours of stifling my cries, my pleas

pitch-black sky,

sixteen hours passed by

now the whole street is empty.
