Her lips trembling,

Unable to utter a single word

Her eyes burning with fury and with fear

Her hushed breaths, no one could hear

Her throat on flames,

Her racing heart

Her mind at unease

She was begging, please

She pulled and pulled,

Away

Until she was free

And all she could do was flee

Her arms were numb,

And red lines on her wrist

Where she was held tightly,

It was bleeding,

dripping, oh so lightly

Tears poured down, afresh

As her palms wiped them away

Again and again

Aimlessly, running

Nowhere to go

Her mind, racing

Her heart, with heavy beats

Thud thud,

The raindrops fell according to the beat

A sight for sore eyes

Her hair all ruffled up

And the cut on her lips

As she sat on the pavement, looking about

She’d survived,

Today

Her lips still trembling,

I could still hear her say

“I’m okay. I’m okay”
